Frequently Asked Questions

Does my Cat need to be vaccinated to stay at Cataway Cat Boarding Resort?
Yes, all of our cat guests must be up-to-date with a minimum F3 vaccination.  The F3 vaccination provides immunity against feline panleukopenia, feline calicivirus and feline herpes. We need to verify your cats’ vaccination status by sighting their current vaccination certificate.  Your cats last vaccination must be no more than 12months prior to their stay.
If your cat is overdue for their vaccination, we recommend that you vaccinate your cat at least 2 weeks prior to their stay.
Does my cat require any other treatments before boarding?
As part of our commitment to keep our facility flea free, we require all our guests to have a flea treatment prior to their stay. All cats must be up to date with their worm treatments as well.  Additional Flea and worm treatments will need to be supplied by the owner for longer stays and will be administered as needed by us.
Can I organise a tour of Cataway Cat Boarding Resort before my cat comes to stay?
Yes. All tours are by appointment only. To organise a mutually agreeable time please phone our reception on 02 43651157.  Please be aware that our first priority is the comfort of our guests.  For this reason, we can’t accommodate more than 2 people at a time on the tour and we request that children are supervised and noise is kept to a minimum for the duration of the tour.  Photos and videos are not permitted during the tour.  If you require a photo of the room we can supply this for you.

What happens if my cat gets sick during their stay?
Cataway Cat Boarding Resort monitors our cat guests’ health as part of our care.  In the unlikely event that a guest shows signs of illness the relevant owner will be alerted and a vet check will be organised.  We endeavour to get the cats’ own vet to review them, if this is not possible in a timely manner we will organise a visit with one of the local vets.
Can I collect my cat before my booked checkout date?
Yes, you are welcome to pick up your cat early by making contact with us and organising a pick- up time within our nominated hours ie: 8am – 10am or 2pm – 4pm Monday – Saturday.
As your cats accommodation is prepaid, we cannot provide you with a refund for any part of the accommodation cost except in extenuating circumstances as deemed unavoidable by Cataway Cat Boarding Resort.
Is there a discount for long – term stays?
Unfortunately, we do not offer discounts.  We feel that our pricing is very competitive for the service we provide.
Does Cataway administer medication?
Yes, we can administer oral and topical medications.  We do not administer injections.  All medications need to be in the original packaging with the dispensary label from the vet outlining the instructions for storing and administering the medication.
Will my cat be allowed out of their room?
We offer all our guests the opportunity to play and roam around the common area.  Some cats prefer to stay in their room so we encourage but never force our guests to leave their room.  We do not allow cats from different households to play or roam at the same time to ensure the health and safety of all of our cat guests.
What food is provided for my cat during their stay?
We have Royal Canin sensible dry food, Royal Canin Ragdoll, Royal Canin Dental and Royal Canin Kitten dry food.  These are premium complete nutritional foods.  We also carry some of the common supermarket brands.  We also have wet and dry cat treats.  We try to ensure the cats are eating similar foods to what they eat at home to minimise upset tummies during their stay.
Can I supply bedding and personal possessions?
We supply cosy bedding and some basic toys for entertainment.  We recommend that you provide an item of clothing or something that has your scent. We can place this in the bed box.  We find that familiar things help to relax the cats during their stay with us.  Items can be misplaced or lost so we recommend that you don’t leave items of high commercial or sentimental value.  Cataway Cat Boarding will not be held responsible for the loss or damage of any personal items during your cats stay.
Will a deposit be required to make a booking?
Yes, we require a $50 non- refundable deposit for under 5 days, a $100 non - refundable deposit for 5 or more days. If you book a longer stay, we require a $100 per month of the booking.
How do you calculate how many days my cat has been boarded?
The day that you drop your cat off is counted as day 1.  If you pick your cat up in the morning that day is not counted as a day.  If you pick your cat up in the afternoon, the day of pick up is counted as a day.  Example you drop your cat off on the 16th of the month and pick up the morning of the 20th then your cat has stayed 4 days.  If you pick up on the afternoon of the 20th then your cat has stayed for 5 days.
Will my cat remember me after boarding?
Yes, of course, your cat will remember you when they return home.  Cats have excellent memories and after a settling period back home they will return back to their usual behaviour.
